2015 Las Colinas Syrah
Overview
Reviews
2015 Las Colinas Syrah
Sonoma Coast
Library Selection
Tasting notes
The Las Colinas Syrah is indicative of what is possible for cool-climate Syrah as it captures the essence of the western Sonoma Coast appellation. The 2015 vintage is a blend from three vineyard-designated, coastal Syrah sites–Cherry Camp, Timbervine, and Dusty Lane–and was the last year to include fruit from the Timbervine and Cherry Camp vineyards. With 20% whole-cluster inclusion, the 2015 vintage of Las Colinas was bottled after a 19-month élevage in 20% new tight-grained French oak barrel and puncheon.
Production notes
With a graceful roundness, the 2015 Las Colinas Syrah deftly mingles delicate dark fruit with hints of spice and a gentle earthiness. Black raspberry and dried mulberry are accented by woodsy black truffle, toasted almond, and a pinch of dried Mediterranean herbs. Harmonious and poised, the layers of the 2015 Las Colinas unfold with quiet intensity, with smooth tannins highlighting its savory edge. Extended bottle age has brought these elements into graceful focus, revealing a distinguished Sonoma Coast Syrah marked by understated complexity and depth.
At bottling, we set aside a small amount of each wine, with the intention to cellar long-term in optimum conditions and release at a later date. Each hand-selected library wine is then offered when we believe it to be in a particularly beautiful drinking window.

“Now that it is in bottle, the 2015 Syrah Las Colinas is every bit as beautiful as it was from barrel. Punchy red-toned fruits, tobacco, smoke, rose petal, mint and white flowers give the 2015 a distinctly bright, lifted personality to play off the beautifully resonant, generous fruit.”
